CNC Fall Ride

2010 CNC ROUTE

DAY 1:  Saturday, September 25 (Check-in & Travel day)
Location:  Biltmore Estate (Asheville, NC)

The Cycle North Carolina (CNC) Staff are excited to announce the starting location for the 2010 Cycle North Carolina “Mountains to Coast” Fall Ride.  This year’s ride will begin at North Carolina’s largest and most prestigious tourist attraction, George Vanderbilt’s 8,000 acre Biltmore Estate, located in Asheville, NC.   CNC participants will be able to camp on the grounds of the historic Estate and all registered participants (full week and 3-day) will be able to explore the breathtaking Biltmore House & Gardens and the new Antler Hill Village —featuring the Winery, The Biltmore Legacy, Village Green, and Farm.    Additional details will be posted as they are confirmed.

DAY 2:  Sunday, September 26 (Ride begins – Cyclists depart the Biltmore Estate)
Location:  Corpening Memorial YMCA (Marion, NC)
Mileage:  45-50 miles

Marion, North Carolina will serve as our second overnight host town.  This will be Marion’s first time serving as a host town on the CNC Fall Ride.  Rider’s will be staying at the Corpening Memorial YMCA and there will be shuttles into town to provide cyclists opportunities to explore downtown Marion, it’s local restaurants, and to the Downtown Street Festival.

Location:  Highland Recreation Center (Hickory, NC)
Mileage:  57-60 miles

Hickory, North Carolina will serve as our third overnight host town.  This will be Hickory’s second time serving as a host town on the CNC Fall Ride.  Base camp will be at the Highland Recreation Center, located just outside of Downtown Hickory.  Shuttles will be provided to take cyclists into town to explore Downtown Hickory, its local restaurants, and shops.

Mileage:  48-55 miles

Mooresville, North Carolina, otherwise known as Race City USA, will serve as our fourth overnight host town.  This will be Mooresville’s first time serving as a host town on the CNC Fall Ride.  Mooresville is home to many of auto racing’s top programs including Dale Earnhardt, Inc., JR Motorsports, Rusty Wallace Inc. and many more.  Base camp will be at the Lowe’s YMCA, which is conveniently located within walking distance to many shops and restaurants.

Location:  Stanly County Family YMCA (Albemarle, NC)
Mileage:  60-65 miles

Albemarle, North Carolina, located in the Uwharrie Lakes Region, will serve as our fifth overnight host town.  This will be Albemarle’s fourth time serving as a host town on the CNC Fall Ride.  Base Camp will be at the Stanly County Family YMCA, which is a short walk from Downtown and the many activities.  With four past events under their belt, you can expect a “Class A” performance from Albemarle.

Laurinburg, North Carolina will serve as our sixth overnight host town.  This will be Laurinburg’s third time serving as a host town on the CNC Fall Ride.  Base Camp will be at St. Andrews Presbyterian College, which is conveniently located within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and in close proximity to the hotels.

Whiteville, North Carolina will serve as our seventh and final overnight host town.  This will be Whiteville’s fourth time serving as a host town on the CNC Fall Ride.  Base Camp will be at the Whiteville High School, which is a short walk from many restaurants and the Vineland Station Historic Train Station (1903).

Location:  Ocean Isle Beach, NC
Mileage:  48-55 miles

Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, Home of the North Carolina Oyster Festival, will serve as our final stop on the 2010 Cycle NC Fall Ride.  There’s no better way to celebrate riding over 400 plus miles, than celebrating it by taking a dip in the Atlantic Ocean.  Plan to spend extra time celebrating your journey in this great Coastal Town.  This will be Ocean Isle Beach’s first time serving as an Ending town on the CNC Fall Ride.
